It is with great pleasure to write a blog post about an newly award winning hotel in the Lake District.
Friday evening saw the prestigious North Design awards being held at the The Monastery in Manchester celebrating property developers, designers and retailers in North of England. The team at Brimstone were in attendance along with the architects of the hotel, Unwin Jones Partnership and it was
Brimstone only opened in July 2013 so to be shortlisted and reach the finals of the Northern Design Awards in not just one category but four, is an achievement in itself. Brimstone were up against some fantastic finalists and from the length and breadth of Northern England. Out of all the categories, winning Best Eco/Sustainable Build is the most exciting. The Langdale Estate has been leading the way in hotel and tourism sustainability for years now so for them to continue the same values and processes with Brimstone, such an individual and different project from the rest of the estate, is exceptional.
Sustainability has been built into the foundations upwards and not just in terms of obvious energy saving but also through the use of local materials and suppliers and ensuring minimal impact to the immediate environment. The design also cleverly fits without impact to the aesthetics of the estate and this stunning area of the Lake District.
With awards such as this latest accolade for the boutique hotel Brimstone and with the superb feedback from guests since opening for this hotel, Brimstone should continue to be sustainable both environmentally and in business.
