Cumbria and the Lake District, a haven for cosy pubs and cosy pub lovers. There are quite some number throughout the county and National Park and amongst those, some extremely high quality establishments.
Lancashire Life have done very well to select 10 from such a large and wide choice of great, cosy inns and pubs but they have and the Cuckoo Brow Inn at Far Sarwey near Hawkshead is one of them.
The Cuckoo Brow was take over and given a complete refurbishment just 2 years ago and has grown from strength to strength with many guests staying time after time and people making it a regular haunt after walking. It is their ethos in welcoming everyone (including muddy boots!) along with the high quality of the food that has made this inn so successful and of course enabled it to be included in this top 10.
Lancashire Life’s write up included the following “Transformed in recent times with an extensive make-over, the Cuckoo Brow will have fires lit, beer in top condition and a menu that prides itself in being mostly sourced from within a 20 mile radius including some delicious Herdwick.” Great beer, great local food and real fires are just about the best ingredients for a cosy pub.
Cuckoo Brow is very popular also with dog owners as the inn is very dog friendly and the wooden floors and real fires dog heaven. The rooms are also dog friendly.
So congratulations to the Cuckoo Brow Inn for being included in this list of cosy Lake District pubs.
