With two lots of Bank Holidays and a half term, May has been a busy month in the Lake District and for the businesses within it.
But it has been even busier for one hotel in Windermere and not just in terms of guest numbers. The Applegarth Villa Hotel & Restaurant have just completed a huge transformation in their bar and restaurant with full refurbishment, the biggest being in the bar.
A new bar has been constructed complete with backlit shelves and granite top. The whole room has been decorated with new light fittings and all new furniture. Never doing things by halves, Alan and Suzanne Mumford, owners of Applegarth Villa have worked tirelessly with their interior designer to create a space with accents of the 1920’s. The light fittings especially echo these notes with style and elegance.
New photographs will be produced as well as a new and dedicated bar and restaurant website which will highlight the local produce Head Chef John Kelly uses, his dishes and the new beverage offerings. These include a larger choice of wines by the glass and what is really exciting, the growing number of single malts. This total is now up to 51 after the purchase last week of whiskies from the Bunnahabhain and Royal Locknagar distilleries along with a 40 year bottle of Glenfarclas. This means the Applegarth now have one of the largest selections of single malts in the area and most definitely some of the rarest.
The purpose of the refurbishment has been to create an atmosphere, ambiance and greater choice whereby guests have everything they require under one roof as well as hopefully gaining more non residential custom.
Anyone having stayed previously at the Applegarth Villa will know these hoteliers won’t be sitting still for long. In fact, the next project is set to be beyond exciting, watch this space!
